Steven & Constance

St. Vincent de Paul Church · San Matteo · Fort Myers, Florida · April 12, 2026

Some weddings you walk into and you feel the energy right away. Steven and Constance's wedding day in Fort Myers was one of those days. From the very first moment we arrived at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Bell Tower, the love and excitement in the room was contagious — confetti poppers, hot pink satin pajamas, laughter spilling out of every corner of the bridal suite. By the time we made it to St. Vincent de Paul Church for the ceremony and over to San Matteo for the reception, it was clear this wasn't going to be a typical wedding day. It was going to be a celebration of two people brave enough to let their full personality shine through every detail.

And the result? A wedding day full of color, love, and golden hour magic — bold pinks and oranges against a Mediterranean backdrop, candlelit Italian dinner under iron chandeliers, and a sunset that showed up like it was on the guest list. Welcome to the Kaydas' wedding day.

Getting Ready at DoubleTree by Hilton at Bell Tower

The morning started at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Bell Tower in Fort Myers — a great choice for a bridal getting-ready suite, with bright window light, plenty of space for the entire bridal party, and an easy proximity to both the church and the reception venue. By the time we walked in, Constance and her girls were already deep into the getting-ready vibes. Matching hot pink satin pajamas. Confetti poppers exploding mid-laugh. The kind of unfiltered, joyful energy that you can't manufacture and can't fake. It was the kind of morning every bride deserves and not every bride gets.

We captured all the small details that tell the story before the story begins. The elegant "We Do" invitation suite laid out in soft natural light. The rings catching the morning sun. Constance's sleek white halter-neck gown waiting on its custom "Mrs. Kayda" hanger — one of those personal touches that turns a beautiful detail shot into something deeply meaningful. Pearl accessories, polished and timeless against the white silk. Every piece of the bridal style was intentional, and the way it all came together set the tone for the rest of the day: classic and elegant on the surface, with a personality-forward color story bursting through underneath.

On the other side of Fort Myers, Steven and his groomsmen were getting ready too. Steven looked sharp in a dark charcoal suit — modern, clean-lined, perfectly fitted — while his groomsmen matched in light gray with coordinated boutonnieres. The contrast between Steven's deeper charcoal and the groomsmen's lighter shade created a beautiful visual hierarchy in the wedding party photos that followed. Confident, polished, ready for the day.

The Ceremony at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church

The ceremony was held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Myers, one of Southwest Florida's beloved Catholic wedding venues. There's something particularly meaningful about a Catholic church wedding — the weight of tradition, the architecture that's been hosting weddings for generations, the choreography of a ceremony that has a depth most modern weddings can't replicate. For couples planning a Catholic wedding in Fort Myers, St. Vincent de Paul is one of those venues that makes the ceremony itself feel sacred without effort.

Constance walked down the aisle with both of her parents by her side — a beautiful detail that we always love seeing, because it visually honors the equal role both parents play in giving away their daughter. In her hands she carried a bouquet that immediately stole the visual spotlight: vibrant oranges, deep pinks, corals, and white calla lilies, bursting against the clean white of her gown. That bouquet was a statement. A literal pop of color in a setting that could easily have been only ivory and gold. It told you everything about who this couple is and what kind of celebration they were stepping into.

The ceremony itself was intimate and beautiful, surrounded by family who clearly adore Steven and Constance. The traditional Catholic readings, the exchange of vows, the lighting of the unity candle, the kiss met with applause that echoed through the sanctuary — every moment carried the weight it deserved. Some of the most powerful frames from the entire day came from this hour: the look on Constance's father's face as he walked her down the aisle, the way Steven's eyes never left her as she approached the altar, the quiet reverence of the families seated on both sides watching their children become one.

The Reception at San Matteo — Mediterranean Magic

After the ceremony, the celebration moved to San Matteo, and this is where the day shifted from beautiful to truly cinematic. San Matteo is one of Fort Myers' most photogenic wedding venues — a Mediterranean-inspired estate with warm brick pavers, a striking Spanish bell tower, and an industrial-chic interior anchored by black iron chandeliers. The architecture creates a setting that feels like you've been transported to Tuscany or southern Spain without leaving Southwest Florida.

For couples researching Fort Myers wedding venues, San Matteo is a standout. The venue offers multiple distinct settings within a single property — the brick courtyard for cocktail hour, the bell tower for show-stopping portraits, the warm interior dining hall for an Italian-style reception meal, and outdoor spaces that catch sunset light beautifully. It's the kind of venue that gives photographers a dream playground and gives couples photos that look like they came from a destination wedding magazine, all without leaving Florida.

Steven and Constance leaned into the venue's character with a candlelit Italian dinner — long communal-feeling tables, taper candles dripping warm light onto every plate, a menu that brought the Mediterranean vibe full circle. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, with conversations stretching long into the evening and laughter rolling through the space like its own kind of music.

The First Dance Under the Iron Chandeliers

One of the most memorable frames from the entire day was Steven and Constance's first dance. They moved to the center of the dance floor under San Matteo's signature iron chandeliers, and the entire room went quiet. You can feel a real first dance. It's not a performance — it's a moment of two people, in front of everyone they love, fully present with each other in a way they may never be again in quite the same way. Steven held Constance close. She rested her head against his shoulder. The crowd ringed them, watching, smiling, soaking it all in.

Some couples turn the first dance into entertainment. Steven and Constance turned it into the truest moment of the entire night. The kind of frame you look back at fifty years later and remember exactly how the room felt.

Sunset Portraits — When the Sky Showed Up

And then the sky showed up. Just as we expected, Fort Myers in mid-April delivered one of those painted sunsets — soft purples bleeding into deep blues, with golden light skimming across the Mediterranean architecture of San Matteo. We pulled Steven and Constance away from the reception for fifteen quiet minutes of portraits in that light, and what we got back is some of the best portrait work we've done all year.

One of my favorite frames from the entire wedding came from this session: Steven holding a glass of wine in one hand, Constance's hand in the other, both of them relaxed and genuinely happy beneath the warm glow of the bell tower. That's the shot. No posing, no direction, no production. Just two married people enjoying their wedding day in beautiful light at a beautiful venue. It's the kind of image that reminds me why I do what I do — and the kind of frame I know they'll have printed on a wall in their home for the next several decades.

A Color Story That Made the Day Theirs

What set Steven and Constance's wedding apart from a hundred other beautiful weddings wasn't the venues or the vendors — it was the color story. Bold hot pink running through everything from the morning pajamas to the bridesmaid bouquets. Vibrant oranges and corals exploding in Constance's bouquet. Warm wine tones in the wedding party styling. Against the clean white of the gown and the warm Mediterranean tones of San Matteo, the color palette didn't just decorate the wedding — it told you something about who Steven and Constance are.

This is what we love seeing more couples do. Wedding industry conventions can pull couples toward sage green, dusty pink, and ivory by default. There's nothing wrong with those palettes, but when a couple is brave enough to commit to color — like Steven and Constance did with their pink and orange world — the wedding becomes unmistakably theirs. Their photographs stand out. Their guests remember it. Their albums look like nobody else's. That's the goal.

Why Choose Fort Myers for Your Wedding

For couples planning a Florida wedding, Fort Myers offers something the more famous Florida wedding cities don't always deliver: a sense of place that's genuinely Mediterranean. Between the Spanish-influenced architecture of venues like San Matteo, the historic Catholic parishes like St. Vincent de Paul, the easy access to the Gulf of Mexico's white-sand beaches, and the warm Southwest Florida light that's particularly forgiving in spring and fall, Fort Myers is one of the state's underrated wedding destinations.

It's also more accessible for guests than you might expect. Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) makes destination guests' travel simple. Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island, and Captiva are all within a short drive for honeymoon extensions or rehearsal dinner outings. And the surrounding area offers everything from luxury resorts to charming downtown hotels for guest accommodations. For couples looking to plan a Florida wedding without the production-scale of Orlando or the price-tag of Miami, Fort Myers deserves serious consideration.

Why Steven & Constance's Wedding Will Stay With Us

What made Steven and Constance's wedding unforgettable wasn't any single element — it was the way every choice they made felt fully like them. The bold color. The intentional details. The traditional Catholic ceremony followed by an Italian-Mediterranean reception. The "Mrs. Kayda" hanger. The hot pink satin pajamas. The decision to hold the first dance in the spotlight under iron chandeliers without making it into a performance. The choice to step away from the reception for fifteen quiet minutes of sunset portraits because the light was too good to miss.

This is what good wedding planning looks like. Not perfection — presence. Two people who knew what they wanted their day to feel like, and then made every decision in service of that feeling. The result is a wedding day that everyone who attended will remember, and a gallery of images that Steven and Constance will treasure for the rest of their lives.
