Florida Botanical Gardens · Largo, Florida · Engagement Session

A sneak peek from Dang and Trang's engagement session at Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo, one of our favorite engagement spots in Pinellas County.

What happens when the gardens close at 5pm, your clients want photos among the greenery, and it is 4pm with harsh, direct sun? You whip out the flash! Off camera flash let us overpower the afternoon light, keep skin tones clean and still get rich, saturated skies.

Florida Botanical Gardens, A Lush Engagement Location

Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo offers winding paths, tropical plants, wooden bridges and open lawns, all within a short walk. It gives couples a wide variety of backdrops in a single session, from shady garden corners to bright open sky.

Shooting in Harsh Florida Sun

Florida sun can be brutal in the late afternoon, but it does not have to ruin an engagement session. With a flash, we balance the bright background and light the couple directly, which turns a tough lighting situation into bold, editorial looking portraits.

Hair and Makeup

Trang's hair and makeup for the session were done by Kim Phantran of La Vie Bridal.
