Tampa Garden Club, A Classic Bayshore Wedding Venue
Tucked along Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa Garden Club is one of our favorite places to photograph a wedding in Tampa. Sprawling live oaks draped over the lawn, a white pergola for the ceremony, and a ballroom lined with tall windows give couples a garden ceremony and an elegant reception without ever leaving the property.
It is a venue that works for nearly any style, from light and airy spring weddings to the rich, moody palette Andrew and Heather chose for November. With golden hour on Bayshore just steps away, it is a photographer's dream.
Getting Ready, A High Rise View of South Tampa
The morning started in South Tampa, with Heather and her ten bridesmaids getting ready in a bright high rise suite overlooking the city. Her gown hung in the window against a wide open Tampa skyline, and the details were laid out with care: the rings, the save the date, the black and white invitation suite, and a bouquet of pearls.
The bridesmaids matched in black, popping champagne on the balcony and piling onto the couch for photos. Even the family dog got in on the action, wearing a bandana as the official dog of honor. When it was time, Heather's mom and her girls helped her into the dress, buttoned the back, and fastened the bracelet that finished the look.
Across the way, Andrew and his seven groomsmen were all in black, with Andrew in a deep green velvet tuxedo jacket and a red rose boutonniĆØre. A row of cold bottles lined the table for a toast before heading to the venue.
A First Look With Dad
Before Andrew ever saw her, Heather shared a first look with her father. He sat waiting in a quiet room, turned around, and the emotion on both of their faces said everything. They sat together on the couch for a few minutes, holding hands, and then her mom joined them for a family moment we know they will treasure.
Andrew's First Look Under the Oaks
Then it was Andrew's turn. Under the massive live oaks at Tampa Garden Club, he waited with his back turned while Heather walked up behind him. They read letters to each other, back to back, before she finally tapped his shoulder. The hug that followed was long, tight, and full of tears and laughter.
Heather is also a new mom, and their little boy joined them for portraits in his own tiny green suit. Watching Andrew crouch down to straighten his son's jacket, and then chase him across the lawn, was one of the sweetest parts of the day.
The Ceremony in the Garden
With about a hundred guests seated on the lawn, the bridal party made their way down the aisle past rows of deep red and burgundy florals. Andrew wiped away tears before Heather even reached the end of the aisle, and when she did, walking arm in arm with her dad, the whole garden felt it.
Under the white pergola, their vows were heartfelt and personal, and more than a few guests were crying right along with them. They exchanged rings, and when it came time to break the glass, it shattered right on cue. The kiss, the cheer, and the fist pump down the aisle were pure joy.
Portraits With a Little Help From Mando
Of course, no Star Wars wedding would be complete without a special guest. For the family and wedding party photos, a Mandalorian helmet made its appearance, and Andrew wore it proudly beside his bride. It was playful, totally them, and exactly the kind of personality we love bringing into portraits.
As the evening light settled in, we took Andrew and Heather out for portraits in the garden and on the grounds, keeping the mood rich and cinematic to match their classic formal fall vibe.
The Reception, Dancing Under the Stars
Inside, the ballroom glowed in deep red and black. Long tables were draped in red linens with lush centerpieces of roses and greenery, and a sweetheart table waited at the front. The cake was topped with a cutout that read I Know, and the guest book was a tree of fingerprints with their names and wedding date.
aheProductions Entertainment had the room bathed in blue uplighting for the grand entrance and first dance. Heather's dance with her dad was another tender moment, and the toasts brought the room to laughter and tears.
And then the party really started. Lightsabers came out, the Mandalorian returned to the dance floor, and guests lifted the couple up in chairs above the crowd. By the end of the night, everyone gathered outside for a sparkler send off, lighting up the path as Andrew dipped Heather for one last kiss under the oaks.
The Vendor Team That Made It Happen
